Since its summary in 1831, 3 subspecies of the large golden-crowned flying fox have been identified, among which is vanished. The vanished subspecies (A. jubatus lucifer) was previously recognized as a complete species, the Panay golden-crowned flying fox. Formerly, this varieties was put in the category Pteropus; while it is no longer within the genus, it has numerous physical similarities to Pteropus megabats. It is among the biggest bat species on the planet, weighing as much as 1.4 kg (3.1 lb)-- only the Indian as well as fantastic flying fox can evaluate more.
