The board is expected to take action if it's anticipated future Medicare investing will exceed targets established by the federal government. Yet to bring predicted prices in-line, IPAB will not be able to reduce benefits given by Medicare; its duty will be largely limited to lowering just how much Medicare repays medical professionals and also medical facilities for those benefits. If the trouble with the US health-care system is that it doesn't reward physicians for making clients healthier, then probably the very best solution is to develop measures of quality treatment and benefit medical providers based on just how well they rack up on those measures.
